The Callsky-Tech Ctab 14 is a massive 14.1-inch Android tablet with a huge battery and tons of RAM for around $220. It's fantastic for streaming video and light use, but the processor is one of the slowest we've seen. Reliability is a gamble, with some units failing after six months. Buy it as a dedicated media player, not a daily driver.

The 10,000mAh battery is another spec that looks incredible on the box, also in the 88th percentile. In real-world use, you can easily get through a full day of video playback, maybe even two if you're not pushing it. The 18W charging is slow by modern standards, but with a battery this big, you'll probably just charge it overnight anyway. The screen, at 1920x1200, is solidly middle of the pack. It's not going to blow you away with color accuracy or brightness, but for watching movies indoors, it's perfectly fine. The anti-glare coating helps a bit, but don't expect to use it comfortably in direct sunlight. The quad speakers get loud enough to fill a small room, though a few owners have mentioned an echo issue when using wireless headphones, which is something to keep in mind.

Then there's the HOTWAV R9 Ultra 5G, another budget contender that focuses more on ruggedness and outdoor use. The Ctab 14's main advantage over all of these is sheer screen size for the dollar. Nobody else gives you a 14.1-inch panel with this much RAM and storage for around $220. But you're giving up performance, reliability, and camera quality to get there. If you need a tablet for anything beyond media consumption, the Xiaomi or Lenovo are worth the extra cash. If you just want a big screen for Netflix and don't care about anything else, the Ctab 14 is the budget king.

But value isn't just about the upfront cost. The reliability concerns from user reviews are a red flag. One owner reported the tablet going haywire and becoming unusable after six months. Another had cameras that didn't work out of the box. The included charger and stylus also get called out as feeling cheap. So you're rolling the dice a bit. If you get a good unit, it's a steal. If you don't, you're stuck with a paperweight and a customer service experience that's probably not going to match Apple or Samsung. For the price, it's a calculated risk.

The real question is whether the trade-offs are worth it for you. If your tablet use case is 90% Netflix, YouTube, and Kindle, the Ctab 14 makes a compelling argument. The Widevine L1 support means you actually get HD streams, which isn't always a given at this price. The included case and stylus are nice touches, even if the stylus feels a bit weird in hand according to some owners. But if you need to do any real work, play games beyond basic 2D titles, or want a device that'll last more than a couple years without hiccups, the cracks in the foundation start to show pretty quickly.

Also, if you're sensitive to weight in a handheld device, the Ctab 14 is a chunky boy at nearly 900 grams. It's fine propped up on a stand or a pillow, but holding it in one hand for reading gets old fast. If portability matters, a smaller 10 or 11-inch tablet will serve you much better. And if you plan to take a lot of photos or video calls, the cameras are a weak spot, with some units arriving with non-functional rear cameras. This is not the tablet for you if camera quality matters at all.

But we can't recommend this for students, professionals, or anyone who needs a reliable daily driver. The processor is just too slow for real multitasking, and the reliability concerns from user reviews are worrying. If you're buying this as a primary device for school or work, you're going to be frustrated within a week. Spend a bit more on a Lenovo Idea Tab Pro or a base iPad if you need something that won't let you down. The Ctab 14 is a secondary device, a dedicated media player, and nothing more. Treat it as such, and you'll probably be happy with it.
