The matte 1080p panel provides 178° viewing angles and a pivot-capable smart cover that doubles as a stand for both landscape and portrait modes. This monitor is best for travelers and remote workers needing a lightweight, no-fuss secondary screen for documents and basic productivity, not for gaming.

Performance
Let's be upfront: the display performance sits in the 22nd percentile, which is a weak spot. You're looking at 300 nits of brightness and a standard 1080p resolution on a glossy IPS panel. It's fine for spreadsheets, Slack, and a secondary screen for your laptop, but the gaming score of 30.6 out of 100 confirms this isn't the monitor for your PS5's main event. The 178-degree viewing angles are nice for sharing your screen in a coffee shop, and the HDR mode tries its best, but don't expect it to transform the image. It's a workhorse, not a show pony.

vs Competition
Stacked against something like the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQMY or the Samsung Odyssey LS27DG302ENXZA, the MNN isn't even playing the same sport. Those are high-refresh-rate desktop gaming monitors, while the MNN is a portable productivity panel. The MSI MAG 274CF X24 and Acer CB2 X27U will blow it away on color accuracy and resolution. But none of them will fit in your backpack alongside a laptop. The MNN's real competition is other portable monitors, and its 99th percentile compactness and strong user sentiment give it a clear edge for travelers who just need more screen real estate.

Value & Pricing
Pricing is a wild west situation here, with a spread from $50 to $1434 across vendors. The sweet spot is clearly at the lower end of that range. At around $50 to $100, the value proposition is fantastic for a portable second screen. If you're seeing it priced anywhere near that $1434 mark, you're looking at a third-party seller taking a shot in the dark, and you should run the other way. For a solid, no-frills travel monitor, the lower prices make it a steal.

Overview
The MNN M156F01 lands in the 99th percentile for compactness in our database, and at just 694 grams, it's basically a feather with a screen. That portability score of 84.6 out of 100 tells the real story here: this is a monitor built for the road. You're getting a 15.6" 1080p IPS panel that folds up into a slim package, complete with a magnetic smart cover that doubles as a stand. It's not trying to be a desktop replacement, and it doesn't need to be.
Common Questions
Q: Can I use this monitor for gaming with my PS5 or Xbox?
You can connect it, but we wouldn't recommend it. The MNN has a gaming score of just 30.6 out of 100 in our database, and its 60Hz 1080p panel lacks the high refresh rates and fast response times you'd want for a good console experience. It's much better suited as a secondary screen for work.
Q: Does a single USB-C cable really handle both power and video?
Yes, if your device supports USB-C DP Alt-Mode or Thunderbolt 3.0. One cable can carry both the display signal and power. Just be aware that when powered by a phone alone, you might need to keep the brightness below 80% to avoid issues, and some users have reported the included cable can be faulty.
Q: How does the picture quality compare to a standard desktop monitor?
It's a mixed bag. The 1080p IPS panel offers solid viewing angles and decent color for productivity, but its display performance is in the 22nd percentile overall. With 300 nits of brightness, it's fine indoors but will struggle in bright sunlight. It's not going to compete with a good desktop monitor on color accuracy or sharpness.
Who Should Skip This
Gamers and creative pros should look elsewhere, period. The 30.6 out of 100 gaming score and 22nd percentile display performance mean this monitor will disappoint anyone needing high refresh rates, low response times, or wide color gamuts. If you're editing photos, playing competitive shooters, or want a single monitor to do it all, the MNN isn't it. This is a dedicated second screen for spreadsheets, email, and reference material, and it's brilliant at that. For anything else, you'll be frustrated.
Verdict
The MNN M156F01 is a purpose-built tool that nails its mission. It's not a desktop monitor, and it's certainly not a gaming monitor, but as a lightweight, grab-and-go second screen, it's one of the best in our database for portability. The 88/100 user sentiment score backs up the specs: people who buy this for travel and remote work are overwhelmingly happy. Just make sure you're paying a portable monitor price, not a premium desktop monitor price.
